A group of independent record store owners and employees came up with the idea for Record Store Day in 2007 as a means to honour and raise awareness of the distinctive culture

that exists around the almost 1,400 independently-owned record stores in the US

and thousands of such businesses across the world. On April 19, 2008, the first Record Store Day was observed.

Every continent but Antarctica currently has participating record stores for Record Store Day. Just tap to see more intresting facts

Young Ones, located at 26 S. Whiteoak St. in Kutztown, is participating in Record Store Day on Saturday.

Holt predicts that there will be long queues of people poring over both recent and historical documents. As soon as someone leaves, more will be standing by to enter the queue.

According to Holt, the store, a 33-year mainstay in the neighbourhood, will have its busiest day of the year.

The limited edition CDs that are difficult to find and can resale for hundreds to thousands of dollars are the main draws for shops.

Taylor Swift, a resident of Berks County, released "Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions" this year, which was one of the major albums.
